The woman and I decided to take a short trip to Taiwan. Niether of us have been there before, but it is a country that allows US and Philippine on arrival visa. So this seemed like a good first trip for us to take. Also, her son is currently working OFW there.
We booked the rtip from 27 September 2025 until 3 October 2025. Not too long, but enough to become acqauinted with the place.
We started from Mactan Airport, so Cebu City Philippines. After going through an experience to pay for her exit privilege and then get boarding passes, we hit customs to go to the gate. Along the way there were interesting wooden displays such as this ship. There were others as well, such as statues. I enjoyed the visual candy to look at while waiting for our flight.
We had no issues on the flight and even got to fly over our house in Compostela. And no, I failed to get a picture of our house from the plane window. I have no idea that we would be able to see our house. I know, who cares? Well I did, I thought it was cool to see the place we have been working on for so many months.
After arriving at Taiwan Taoyuan Internation Airport we moved along to passport control and of course took seperate windows as that is how it worked. I got through pretty quickly as did the WOMAN. Then just some airport basics, get luggage, get a rail card, find the rail station and pick the right direction towards Taipei.
It isn’t a long tripto the city, but it was fun to see such a different place along the way. Rice fields, the construction sites were organized differently. And one of htemost striking things was how clean everything was. No trash anyware, no broken down vehicles, roads that had sidewalks, I mean it was so striking.
After getting into Taipei it was a quick taxi ride to our hotel. I used Uber the whole time I was in taipei and it worked exceptionally well. I am glad I didnt delete that app from my phone when I left the USA. Our day of travel was nearing completion when we arrived at our hotel. I chose The Grand Hotel. I know, pretty fancy place right? But I feel like if you are going to travel and experience places a nice hotel cant hurt. Plus, my wife looks good in nice places. And I am happy to take her picture. I also like history and architecture so The Grand Hotel was the best option I think.
We did reserve a nice room but there was a substantial discount rate so I was again pretty happy. The Grand Hotel Tiapei Taiwan. Stay there.
