Singapore is the next stop on our travels. I have read a lot about Singapore and have been watching some videos about the location as a tourist or foodie. I guess we are going as both, because how can you travel without food?
This vacation to Singapore is really just the beginning of a longer trip around the area. We will head to Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur later in the month.
Singapore basics
Lucky for us we have a direct flight from Cebu to Singapore. The flight is just 3 hours and 40 minutes in duration. We will arrive at Changi airport at 4:40 pm.
We made reservations for 4 nights in the downtown area, near Chinatown and some of the metro lines. The area seems centrally located and allows Grab, metro, and walking to see places.
In my reading I have heard so many discussions about how expensive Singapore is. Some even told me to NOT go to Singapore because of costs. Obviously I didn’t listen to those people.
Expensive
In some of the travel groups there seems to always be a few people that offer their opinions on expense. Seems a strange thing to do as they really don’t know our plans, they don’t know our financial situation, and they don’t have a bigger picture of our travel goals.
Again, just stragne but that is the web for you.
Is Singapore more expensive than some other locations? Sure. Is Singapore less expensive than some other locations? Sure again.
The deciding factor for me was did I want to see Singapore, and the answer is yes. So, we will go and moderate our expenses in ways that don’t ruin the experience. We may go to Singapore one time, I won’t go there and hide in the room to save money. Nor will we pick foor from the trash to save money.
Beleive me when I say we will be fine.
What to do?
We will do what we do. Maybe that sounds strange, but really why make everything a chore with rigid schedules when you are on vacation? I make ideas, general themes, and yes there are some specific areas we wish to go to.
Will we die if we don’t see each thing? Nope. Maybe there will be lines longer than we prefer to wait in, maybe it will rain, maybe, maybe, maybe…
What is the most important thing to do? Enjoy each day and the time with my WOMAN. We will go places to get picture memories, view architecture, history, gardens, and have “PIC ME” time for the wife.
She likes to have pictures that she can review and enjoy. we have camera phones. This trip I may take along my OSMO and see if getting some video is worth the hassle of carrying the components.

There are many places to see and things to do. We will make a focus for a day when we know the weather and go from there. No stress on vacations.
Singapore, how long to stay?
As I said before, we are staying for a total of 4 nights. Our first day we arrive late afternoon so just hotel and some food I think. Then, 3 full days of the city and fly out on day 5 at 3:45 pm.
Yepper, we have time on day 5 and I think we will spend some of it looking around the airport. The airport , you say? Yeah, I have hear it is nice and worth a bit of time
So, NO STRESS, is my phrase and we will get there early, enjoy what we can see together, and be sure to make our next flight to Indonesia. Oh yeah, some food too.
