Trifidacanthus unifoliolatus is the Vietnam Bluebell. I find the plant can be a bit difficult to ship and also to keep. Watering and soil drainage is so very important with this plant.
Is the Philippine Bluebell the same species?
Another plant that grows in the Philipines is often called the Philippine bluebell. The leaves of these plants are completely different. I don’t know how this would be the same species as the Vietnam Bluebell. More research I guess. The first picture here is definitely the Vietnam bluebell. The picture in the gallery are all of the Philippine bluebell.
I am going to create a new page called Trifiicanthus spp and use it as a placeholder to gather information about the Philippine Bluebell.
The Vietnam Whitebell has many similarities with the bluebell though the striking difference is that the Whitebell has much larger leaves. I have plants that are also similar and called Micro-bluebell, or Variegated Bluebell.
Can be propagated through air-layering or root cuttings? I have read it can be propagated from seeds but never confirmed that.

- Defoliation: Partial or full leaf pruning can be used to reduce leaf size, making the tree appear more proportional as a miniature.
- Wiring: Branches can be wired year-round, but monitor the wire closely may scar if the wire “bites” in during periods of fast growth.
