Premna odorata

Premna odorata is a commonly seen bonsai plant in the Philippines. I still think there is confusion between this plant and Argao Taiwan or Premna microphylla.

Commonly used in medicinal actions. Premna odorata Blanco (Lamiaceae) is a medicinal plant traditionally used in Albay Province, in southeastern Luzon, Philippines to treat tuberculosis.

Surprisingly the plant doesnt seem to maintain traction or desire in the more serious bonsai groups. It seems to me it would because it has many nice features for bonsai, but again the prices for these trees is often far less than other materials.

While the material is inexpensive it can be made into many styles, air roots, rock inclusion, formal, informal, and on. Not sure why it doesnt seem to hold as much interest. Maybe it is just that so many have it and it can be propagated easily and finally it can be grown quickly.
