Singapore travel: I guess I am going to try and cover our Singapore trip in a mostly chronological way. So the blog posts are just going by timeline and the content is based on what we decided to do each day.
March 18 – March 22, 2026

Getting there
Our trip began on the 18th of March. Our flight was mid-day from Mactan Aiport in Cebu, non-stop to Changi Airport in Singapore. Everything people say about how quick and easy the immigration process is at the airport is correct. I had taken care of the arrival and stuff before departing the Philippines.
My wife is filipina and I am american. There were no issues with processing our arrival, all automated, and honestly we wanted to get our passport stamped, but that doesn’t need to happen as it is all digital now.
We did walk around a bit after arriving. I wanted to get some pics at the garden area and waterfall. We walked past the Jewel Rain Vortex waterfall area and got some shots, but we didn’t linger for too many photos as we wanted to get to the city and check into our hotel.

Getting to the city and checkin
I chose to just get a ride as it was already getting late. I used the Grab app and that was easy enough and not very expensive. The Grab took us directly to our hotel in the city. I had already booked and paid for a hotel room at the Furama City Center Hotel.

Choosing a location to stay
The Furama City Center Hotel is a fairly modern place and the rooms were just fine. I chose this mostly for the price and the location. It is just a few steps away from Chinatown and other places to go and see.
The check in was wierd as it was completely booked but they had us go from the counter with a person to a computer. Maybe it was just me but somehow they got me to pay for not only a breakfast inclusion option for 1 day, but somehow a room upgrade which I didn’t need really. It wasn’t a huge amount of money so we got that done and went to our room.
As I said, Chinatown was just down the street and a shopping area with food accross the street. Really was a nice location in my opinion.

Food
We did find the Chinatown Point mall a nice place for a variety of restaurants and other shopping. We had a sit-down meal and then just downstairs there was also a 7-11. We got some snacks to have in the room or while walking around town. We like to do this to keep our costs down during travel.
Anyway, that was our first day getting to Singapore and settling in.
